Disney's "NEWSIES JR." Drama Camp Auditions

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in being a part of our production! We welcome everyone ages 8 -18 years old and all experience levels to audition. Auditions are on May 16th at 9 AM with call backs on May 17th at 2 PM. Rehearsals are scheduled DAILY as part of our Drama Camp June 15-24 (except 6/21) from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Performances will take place June 25th and 26th at 7 PM with a Matinee on the 27th at 2 PM. Please fill out one form per participant. Forms must be submitted prior to auditioning.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: 8 – 18+ years old

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1.  Registration forms must be COMPLETED BY MAY 1ST, prior to auditioning. The form is available online at https://bit.ly/newsiesjrfumcsc

AUDITIONS: WHAT TO EXPECT: Auditions are casual and supportive.  Once the audition registration form is completed, you will be sent a link to the audition package, which consists of a selection of readings, music, and a dance video that will be used in the auditions, along with instructions.  You will be asked to:

  1. Select and perform a memorized reading.
  2. Perform a pre-selected song from the list per the instructions.
  3. Dance audition; wear clothes you can freely move in.  Please be familiar with the piece and be able to perform it with minimal training.

Please note, this information is ONLY available to those who complete the registration information and provide a current email address.   Links to the audition package will be sent 24 hours after the receipt of the completed registration form. (After May 1, 2026)

Notifications of cast selection and backstage positions will be posted on May 17, by 8:00 pm via email, Facebook, and our website. Everyone who auditions will be offered a position.

In order to attend Drama Camp, you must accept the assigned role/position.

All individuals are expected to attend Drama Camp in its entirety. 

DRAMA CAMP INFORMATION

DATES/TIMES: June 15-27 (Except June 21) 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM DAILY

At our upcoming camp, we will be teaching and developing youth Campers to perform in the musical “Newsies, Jr”. 

We will focus our training on acting, dance, and vocal skills.  Daily rehearsals with lessons in stage presence, projection, character development, vocal and dance training, backstage etiquette and blocking, stage make-up and application, set construction, and stage terminology.  

All Campers will be required to participate in setup, stage construction, painting, and teardown.  Campers selected for backstage opportunities will focus on behind-the-scenes activities and be involved with all production elements.   

Campers are required to attend all days of camp – without exception as well as all performances on June 25 (7 pm), June 26 (7 pm), and June 27 (2 pm). 

Drinks and snacks will be provided.  Campers will be asked to bring a bagged lunch daily (unless otherwise advised).

COST: $125/camper for the session. Some scholarships are available based on need.
